Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Construction Carpenter/ Carpenter- Helper to join our team. As a Construction Carpenter, you will be responsible for various carpentry tasks involved in the construction, renovation, and repair of structures. As a Carpenter Helper, you will assist skilled carpenters in various construction tasks, providing support and contributing to the successful completion of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and eager to learn and develop their skills in the construction industry.

Location: New Westminster, BC

Responsibilities:

As a Carpenter:

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine project specifications and materials required.

• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials (such as wood, metal, or plastic) to construct structures or fixtures.

• Install structures and fixtures, including windows, doors, cabinets, stairs, and moldings.

• Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.

• Perform repairs and renovations to existing structures as needed.

• Collaborate with other construction workers, such as plumbers, electricians, and painters, to complete projects on time and within budget.

• Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.

• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition and report any malfunctions or defects.

• Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the work site.

As a Carp-Helper:

• Assist carpenters in measuring, cutting, and assembling materials for construction projects.

• Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from the work site.

• Hold and hand tools and materials to carpenters as needed.

• Clean and prepare work areas, including removing debris and organizing tools and equipment.

• Load and unload materials from trucks or other vehicles.

• Help erect and dismantle scaffolding, bracing, and other temporary structures.

• Perform basic carpentry tasks under the guidance and supervision of experienced carpenters.

• Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

• Learn and apply proper handling and use of carpentry tools and equipment.

• Assist with other tasks as directed by supervisors or lead carpenters.
  
  

Requirements:

As a Carpenter:

• Proven experience as a Construction Carpenter or similar role.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches.

• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods, as well as woodworking tools and equipment.

• Ability to accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials to meet project specifications.

• Fall protection is an asset.

• Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship.

• Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks such as lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in carpentry is preferred.

As a Carp-Helper:

• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.

• Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks such as lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.

• Fall protection is an asset.

• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members.

• Basic knowledge of carpentry tools and equipment is preferred but not required.

• Reliable transportation to and from the work site.

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Pay: $23.00-$31.00 per hour
